Welcome to Skin Care 101 Blog! I started this blog back in 2011 because skin care has always been a part of my interests. When I was a teenager, I didn't know anything about skin care. I had always been prone to acne so my skin looked terrible. My only beauty regimen was washing my face twice daily with a bar soap. I had thought that if I were only rich, I would spend my money on getting my face treated by a dermatologist (just like what my peers had been doing) so that I wouldn't feel so conscious about my skin condition.
Anyway, as years passed by, I finally decided to visit a dermatologist for a change. I had weekly treatment sessions wherein the dermatologist would mechanically remove my pimples with his equipment. He also gave me a daily skin care routine using the products he sells in his clinic. My skin did improve, but breakouts still occur here and there. And I thought to myself, I can't just visit the dermatologist forever. So out of my stinginess and frugality, I skipped some visits to the skin clinic. I did my own serious research on skin care and tried a bunch of skin care products bought from the beauty stores. My research did pay off.
I am not trying to say that everyone can become her own dermatologist. Dermatologists are skin specialists, and a mere online research and self-study would never replace the dermatologists' knowledge acquired through years of practice and study. But of course, if your own beauty regimen can maintain your good skin, it will indeed lessen your visits to the specialist. And I know that not everyone has the luxury of getting regular treatments in skin clinics. Having a basic knowledge on skin care can indeed save you bucks of money (instead of passively buying the products your dermatologists sells you, because sadly, some dermatologists are only after your money). I'm glad that my acne is mild enough to be treated at home.
I wish that my own experience and research could help people out there who have no idea on skin care. Let's admit it, as shallow as it may sound, having a great skin could indeed boost one's level of confidence. Gaining a knowledge in this field can prevent you from blindly following the consumer hype on beauty products. You will also be able to discuss more issues and ask more questions with your dermatologist when the need for consultation arises. I hope you'll like this blog and if you have comments, suggestions, or anything else you'd like to share, feel free to drop a message in the Comments box below. Have a nice day!
